The plumbing industry is facing a quiet crisis — more skilled tradespeople are retiring than are entering the field to replace them. For homeowners, builders, and communities alike, that gap has real consequences. At Hallway Plumbing, a proud member of the Hall Boys family of companies, they decided that acknowledging the problem wasn’t enough. So, they built a solution.
Building the Next Generation of Plumbers
Hallway Plumbing’s Apprenticeship Program is a three-year, hands-on training pathway designed to grow the next wave of skilled plumbing professionals — without saddling them with student debt. Graduates earn their Journeyman’s License and step into their careers ready to work, unburdened by the financial barriers that keep so many talented people out of the trades.
The program is led by four of Hallway’s most experienced and dedicated leaders: Bruce McGrew, BJ Henley, Josh Coker, and Terry Moon. Their combined expertise and commitment to mentorship are at the heart of what makes this program work.
Today, 20 apprentices are going through the program — learning real skills on real jobsites, supported by some of the best materials and training resources the industry has to offer.
54 Sponsors Who Believe in What’s Possible
None of this happens without community. That’s why we’re proud to recognize the 54 sponsors who have come alongside us to make this program a reality.
These aren’t silent donors. Our sponsors are among the largest plumbing manufacturers, rep companies, and suppliers in the industry — and they’ve put their resources to work by providing materials, books, and training that give our apprentices hands-on experience with the best products in the industry from day one. When a Hallway Apprentice walks onto a jobsite, they already know the tools of the trade.
To every sponsor: thank you. What you’ve invested in isn’t just a program — it’s a person, a family, and the future they’re building.
Why This Matters
The numbers tell a story the industry can’t afford to ignore. Skilled tradespeople are aging out faster than new professionals are coming in. The result is a workforce gap that affects everyone who depends on quality plumbing or any trade— which is all of us.
At Hall Boys, we believe the answer isn’t to wait for someone else to fix it. It’s to invest in people, training, and pathways that make a career accessible to anyone willing to put in the work. A Journeyman’s License is a credential that opens doors for life. That’s not charity. That’s opportunity.
Families Serving Families
At the core of everything Hall Boys does is a simple mission: Families Serving Families. The Hallway Apprenticeship Program is that mission in action.
When we help a young plumber earn a career, we’re not just filling a workforce gap. We’re helping a family put food on the table, pay a mortgage, and build something lasting. That ripple effect, from Hallway’s jobsites into homes and communities across the region, is exactly why we do this work.
We’re proud of what this program is becoming and grateful to every sponsor, mentor, and apprentice who is part of it. The future of the trades is being built right now, one journey at a time.
